Republic Polytechnic’s inaugural Sustainable Urban Agriculture Forum showcases innovations in agritech sector

  • RP Agriculture Research and Innovation Centre designated as the lead centre of the newly announced Urban Agriculture Centre of Innovation, in partnership with Temasek Polytechnic

SINGAPORE, 27 October 2022 – Republic Polytechnic (RP) today organised its inaugural Sustainable Urban Agriculture Forum, in collaboration with IPI Singapore and the Trendlines Agrifood Innovation Centre.

The hybrid forum held at Sands Expo & Convention Centre is one of the highlights of the Agri- food Tech Expo Asia 2022 bringing together the Asia Pacific the agriculture ecosystem through sharing different perspectives and trends on urban agriculture, food security and sustainability issues.

The event was graced by Minister of State for Trade and Industry & Culture, Community and Youth, Mr Alvin Tan, who launched the Urban Agriculture Centre of Innovation (UA COI), established with support from Enterprise Singapore (EnterpriseSG).

Ecopetrol expands footprint to Asia; opens first office in Singapore

Singapore, 27 September 2022 – The Ecopetrol Group, Colombia’s largest company and
one of the leading energy groups in Latin America, officially launched their office in
Singapore during APPEC 2022, the premier oil and gas industry meeting in the Asia-Pacific
region.
In four months since operations began, the subsidiary has secured sales that surpass
initially forecasted plans by 55%. This has been possible thanks to a specialized regional
on-site team that has allowed the Company to seize opportunities in real time, develop close
relationships with current and potential clients, as well as gain a better understanding of the
local environment.
“We are pleased to continue moving forward with Ecopetrol Group’s international operations
plan through the opening of this new office in Singapore. Asia is our main export destination,
and a physical presence here allows us to develop closer relationships with our customers
and capture more and better opportunities,” announced Felipe Bayón, CEO of the Ecopetrol
Group, during the first customer relations event organized by the company in Asia.

Global Food Tech Challenge Announces 30 Shortlisted Start-Ups in Competition for $2 Million Prize

Dubai – UAE: 27 September 2022 – A selection of 30 innovative Agri tech and food tech start-ups from around the world, working to address food security challenges, were today named as shortlisted teams vying to win the global Food Tech Challenge that has a pooled prize of US $2 million.   

The second edition of the Food Tech Challenge seeks to find the next wave of technology innovations on the cusp of transforming traditional agriculture practices efficiently and sustainably. Officially launched at Expo City in Dubai in March 2022, the competition is organized by the UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment and Tamkeen, with ASPIRE as the lead partner.  

The 30 shortlisted start-ups have been selected from 667 submissions across 79 countries, representing a 52% increase in entries compared to the first edition of the competition, which saw 437 applications from 68 countries, with previous winners announced from Australia, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and the UK.
